The 2018 Betz Family Winery La Serenne Syrah is a distinctive expression of Syrah from the Yakima Valley in Washington State, sourced entirely from the Boushey Vineyard. The wine displays the characteristic savory and aromatic complexity associated with this site, combining inky blueberry, blackberry and marionberry with lavender, smoked meat, fennel, white pepper, tarragon and cacao nib. On the palate, it is rich and vibrant, developing layers of cracked espresso bean, clove, dark fruit and dusty mineral character. The wine was made with whole-cluster fermentation, an important part of its structure and savory complexity, and was aged in French oak.
