2019 Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Oregon

The 2019 Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve is the winery’s flagship Pinot Noir, a cuvée that has represented Domaine Serene since its first vintage in 1990. Rather than coming from a single vineyard, Evenstad Reserve is built through careful blending of fruit from the estate’s Willamette Valley vineyards, an approach the winery considers central to creating the wine’s distinctive character. The 2019 vintage is 100% Pinot Noir, harvested between September 21 and October 5, and aged for 16 months in barrel.

The wine shows dark dried cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and raspberry, with savory layers of saddle leather, tobacco leaf, graphite, mushroom and forest floor. Pink peppercorn, cherrywood and ground sage add further aromatic depth, while the palate combines concentrated fruit with composed tannins, bright acidity and a long, spicy finish. Wine Advocate described the 2019 as medium-bodied, seamless and harmoniously structured, while the winery notes that it is beautiful on release and capable of aging gracefully in the cellar.
