2024 El Canario Cojito is one of those tiny-production Ribera del Duero wines that I love finding for Happy Wine Calle Ocho. Made by winemaker Silvia González García from 100% Tempranillo, it is hand-harvested, carefully selected, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in French oak and acacia.

This is not your over-the-top Ribera. It is restrained, elegant, fresh and focused, with silky tannins and a long, dry finish.

And yes, the name makes me laugh every time. El Canario Cojito sounds like a little bird that had one too many wines and is trying to make it home. But the wine itself is serious. Tiny production, real personality, and exactly the kind of bottle we love bringing to Happy Wine Calle Ocho.
