The 2022 San Román is a powerful, expressive red wine from the prestigious D.O. Toro in Castilla y León, Spain. Produced by Bodegas San Román, part of the Maurodos winery project associated with the García family, this wine showcases the character of old-vine Tinta de Toro grown in the region’s continental climate and distinctive sandy and stony soils. The concentration of the fruit, combined with careful oak aging, creates a structured wine that balances Toro’s naturally bold style with depth and complexity.

Made from 95% Tinta de Toro and 5% Garnacha, the 2022 vintage offers aromas and flavors of black plum, black cherry, dark berries, tobacco, roasted coffee, cedar and savory spices. Full-bodied and concentrated, it displays firm, ripe tannins, mineral undertones and balanced acidity that carry through to a long, persistent finish. Aged for approximately 22 months in oak barrels, this Spanish red has excellent potential for further development in the bottle. Pair it with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, braised beef, game meats or aged Manchego cheese.
