2019 Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon, Moon Mountain District Sonoma County California
The 2019 Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful estate-grown wine from the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma County, produced high in the southern Mayacamas Mountains. Grown at elevations of approximately 1,100 to 1,450 feet, the vineyard's mountain setting and long growing season contributed to a Cabernet of remarkable concentration, freshness, and structure.
The wine opens with an expressive range of aromas, including raspberry pie, strawberry compote, espresso bean, candied cherry, and marzipan. As it develops in the glass, floral notes of violet and lavender emerge alongside layers of suede, black cardamom, and dark chocolate. On the palate, generous fruit is wrapped in distinctive mountain minerality, creating a richly textured yet balanced expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Seamless tannins give the wine a polished structure and lead into a long, layered, savory finish. Still showing youthful energy, this is a wine that benefits from decanting and has the concentration and balance to continue evolving beautifully in the cellar.
