2020 Tablas Creek Vineyard Mourvedre, Adelaida District Paso Robles California

The 2020 Tablas Creek Vineyard Mourvedre is a pure expression of Mourvedre from the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, grown on Tablas Creek's certified organic and biodynamic estate vineyard. The wine opens with aromas of loamy red fruit, spiced plum and new leather, followed by a rich palate of dark cherry, mocha and earthy spice. Native-yeast fermentation in large wooden tanks and extended aging in foudre allow the varietal character and Paso Robles terroir to remain at the forefront.

Medium-full bodied and richly textured, the wine combines chewy plum-skin tannins with vibrant red fruit, cocoa powder, red currant and lingering loamy minerality. Its savory, earthy character develops additional depth with time, revealing the leathery and meaty qualities that make Mourvedre particularly distinctive. The long, structured finish gives the wine excellent aging potential and makes it especially well suited to hearty dishes.
