2021 Jayson Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley California

The 2021 Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon reflects Pahlmeyer's signature approach to Napa Valley Cabernet, bringing together concentrated mountain fruit with rich, round fruit from the Rutherford valley floor and Atlas Peak foothills. The 2021 growing season produced small berries and naturally low yields, resulting in remarkable concentration, vibrant acidity and a powerful yet balanced structure.

The wine opens with classic Napa Valley aromas of ripe blackberry and red currant layered with dark forest floor, red licorice and subtle earthiness. On the palate, concentrated flavors of black cherry, plum and raspberry are complemented by hints of black olive and freshly cracked pepper. Polished tannins provide structure while balancing acidity gives the wine lift and energy, leading to a long, juicy finish with notes of vanilla bean, warm spice and toasted hazelnut.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Merlot. It was aged for 15 months in Taransaud barrels, with the official technical sheet listing 72% new oak. The result is a rich, polished and age-worthy Napa Valley Cabernet with the concentration to enjoy now and the structure to develop further in the cellar.
