The 2022 DAOU Vineyards Seventeen Forty Reserve is a distinctive Paso Robles Bordeaux-style red inspired by the classic wines of Saint-Émilion. Built around 65% Cabernet Franc and 35% Merlot, the blend combines the savory structure and aromatic character of Cabernet Franc with the richness and supple texture of Merlot. Aromas of elderberry, black currant, roasted walnut, chestnut, and espresso lead into an intense palate of cassis and mint, with layers of dark fruit and savory complexity.
Full-bodied and polished, the wine shows silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long finish with touches of mocha, tobacco, vanilla, and licorice. It pairs beautifully with grilled steak, prime rib, roasted lamb, braised beef, hearty pasta, roasted mushrooms, and aged cheeses.
