2022 Bodegas del Palacio de Fefinanes '1583' Albarino, Rias Baixas, Spain
While the classic Fefiñanes is known for its stainless-steel purity, the '1583' is a more complex, structured expression of Albariño. This wine is fermented and aged on its lees in French oak barrels for four months with regular batonnage (lees stirring). The result is a wine that retains the signature Atlantic salinity and citrus snap of the Salnés Valley but adds a creamy texture, toasted nuances, and incredible aging potential. It is widely considered one of the benchmark barrel-aged Albariños in all of Spain.
