2022 Jayson by Pahlmeyer Red Wine, Napa Valley California

Jayson by Pahlmeyer 2022 is a sophisticated Napa Valley red blend built around Merlot and inspired by the classic Bordeaux tradition. The blend combines 51% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, with fruit sourced from respected Napa Valley sites including William Hill, Broken Rock, Stagecoach, Waters, and Round Pond, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma. The grapes were hand-sorted and fermented in stainless steel with a small portion in oak tanks before spending 15 months in 65% new French oak.

Rich and full-bodied, the 2022 Jayson combines a plush fruit core with fine, polished tannins and bright acidity. Aromas of macerated raspberry, pencil lead, clove, cedar, and fresh sage lead into layers of plum, dark berries, earth, warm spice, mocha, and cocoa. The silky texture and lingering finish give the wine an elegant balance between richness and freshness, making it an excellent choice for grilled steak, roasted lamb, braised beef, roasted pork, hearty pasta, grilled mushrooms, and aged cheeses. The vintage received 93 points from Decanter and 91 points from both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator.
