The 2023 Gundlach Bundschu Estate Vineyard Mountain Cuvée is a Bordeaux-inspired red blend from Sonoma County, crafted with the Bundschu family's more than 160 years of Sonoma winegrowing experience. The wine combines fruit from the organically farmed Rhinefarm estate with hand-selected vineyards along the Mayacamas Mountain range, bringing together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec in a balanced and approachable expression of Sonoma.
The cool, slow-growing 2023 vintage allowed the grapes extra time to ripen, creating a wine with freshness, balance, and elegant complexity. Aromas of star anise, cinnamon, oregano, and cedar lead to layered flavors of tart cherry, raspberry preserve, and wild boysenberry. Medium-bodied and smooth, with refined structure and vibrant fruit, this versatile red is equally enjoyable on its own or alongside a flavorful meal.
